Fall linen tea towel with a bowl of oranges on a blue fog table runner

What makes linen so special?

Linen is an ancient fabric having been used for thousands of years - long before cotton was discovered. It's been used for everything from clothing to bandages (think Egyptian mummies!) and of course bedding and kitchen textiles. I won't give you a history of linen since there's plenty of information already out there, but I would like to share why I feel it's so special and why I think you should use linen in your home as well.

Attainable Luxury

Linen is just as prized today as it was in ancient Egypt and it's easy to see why. Linen has a natural elegance that can soften and elevate any room it's used in. I've chosen to offer kitchen linens as more affordable way to introduce this lovely fabric to your home by way of soft, beautiful aprons, tea towels and table linens.

Linen is Easy to Care for and Long Lasting

This sustainable and long-lasting fabric can be machine washed (be sure to read the labels for exact care instructions) and since it's preshrunk you don't have to worry about shrinkage. And what's especially wonderful is that linen gets softer after every wash.

Linen is Sustainable

Linen is one of the most sustainable fabrics in the world. Grown from European flax it's a fast-growing and renewable resource. The entire flax plant is used - what isn't used for the linen itself is used for a whole host of other products so there is no waste! Linen is also easy to recycle, biodegradable and decomposes quickly, making it an extremely eco-friendly material choice.

Linen is Antibacterial and Hypoallergenic

Linen fabric is naturally antibacterial and antifungal due to a naturally occurring substance in the flax called silica. This inhibits the growth of bacteria and when you add in fast drying qualities it's easy to understand why linen makes an ideal choice for all your kitchen textiles.

Our 100% European Linen products come from Lithuania where they are handmade. I am proud to partner with Linen Tales to bring you what I believe are exquisite, luxurious kitchen linens for your own daily use. I use them in my own home every day and will never go back to cheap kitchen towels. And since they are heirloom quality there's no need! These linens are made to last! Purchase yours in our online shop or visit us in Booth E11 at Painted Tree Boutiques in Matthews, NC.
